Hello friends! I hope all is well. I didn’t mean to keep away from this blog for so long (and I had “Write cardigan blog” on my to-do list for about three weeks now!) But you know how it goes. Keeping busy over here. Work is making me a sad little stress ball at the moment, so let’s skip over the work update. I’ve been pretty tired at night too and not as motivated as I have been. The winter blues haven’t really hit me as hard as I thought it would this year, but maybe this is its last chance to sap any energy from me!
We’ve had a little more snow this past month, but nothing heavy. One morning, I felt snow flurries on me as I walked to work from my garage (typically about a ten to fifteen minute walk). I grinned as I stared at the sky, and wondered, what is this feeling I have right now with this snow…dare I say it’s JOY?
But while I’m getting used to Midwest temperatures, I’m certainly looking forward to spring, which is a good time to show my latest make – The New Beginnings Cardigan by Pink Plumeria Maui! You can find the pattern for free at the Joy of Motion blog.
This was my very first pattern I’d ever tested. It was a bit nerve-wracking at first to stay on schedule, since I tend to be a (very slow) maker. But the deadline kept me focused.
I used Bernat Softee Baby yarn in Gray Marl for this pattern.
This pattern was a breeze! Once I got the hang of the filet stitches, it worked up quickly. Sometimes I would lose my count, but that’s on me (I did get much better at counting, though. I did my gauge swatch too!)
I did get tripped up on the sleeves and had to undo my work on the sleeves. But I’m glad that I took the time to redo them. I’m happy with the way they turned out!
Wait, ONE MORE PICTURE OF ME.
So you can probably tell from this picture that I have ridiculously long arms…so sometimes it’s hard for me to find a long-sleeved garment that doesn’t make me look like I’m going through a growth spurt. But these fit me perfectly and are just long enough!
Overall, I’m very happy with my experience as a tester. Tonja was so kind and accommodating, and I would happily do it again!
I guess I should go get ready for work now, I hope you all have a great day!
