Crafting From My Stash

FO – Jenny Wren Cowl

Good morning friends! If you celebrate, happy Easter! I do not, but I have the perfect pastel cowl to share with you this morning for the occasion.

Should I have blocked this? YES. I DON’T PLAY BY THE RULES ::guitar solo::

This is the Jenny Wren Cowl from Little Box of Crochet! This box is from (::cough::) October 2017. Any pictures of its contents are on my digital camera, which I’m too lazy to dig up.  Those photos would be from our rental house in Austin and they would make me sad and nostalgic anyway…so let’s peek inside what’s in this box, shall we?

::Imagine a picture of a box right here::

In this box we have…yarn. And STUFF AND THINGS.

Ok yay!  And now for the finished product….

You’re probably thinking, “Dang Jenny, that $12 shirt you bought at Target sure gets a lot of mileage, considering that you’ve worn it for like EVERY SINGLE PHOTO SHOOT THAT YOU HAVE DONE.” I knowwwwww.  I didn’t know what to match this cowl with. It honestly wasn’t that cold outside, but just windy enough and I felt grumpy because MY HAIR WAS SUPPOSED TO BE BLUE IN THIS PICTURE.

::sidetrack time:: So Instagram must have figured out that I’m a woman in my mid-30s desperate to keep her hair colored during the quarantine, so I started seeing ads for Overtone on my feed.  (It’s a conditioner that uses semi-permanent dye with lots of cool colors to choose from*).  I’ve always wanted to dye my hair a funky color but didn’t think I could get away with it at work. But of course, NOW IS TIME TO DO THESE THINGS, so I ordered a bottle of Blue for Brown.  And as you can tell from the photo, my hair is not blue. My scalp is blue. And my fingernails. That’s about it. I am an insufferable goody two shoes and EVEN WHEN I ACTUALLY PUT EFFORT IN REBELLING, I DO NOT SUCCEED.

ERGH.

Anyway, back to the project.

This project was super easy and worked up pretty quickly.  It was a good project to unwind with after a difficult week at work, since the stitches were simple and I didn’t to think too much, other than counting the stitches.

The project called for pom poms, but you know what? I’m just gonna say it. I’m not a pom pom person. And that’s not only because they are a pain in the ass to make.  I just prefer my hats and cowls pom pom-less.

I’m glad we were able to have that conversation.

And that’s the latest of my makes! I hope you all have a wonderful Sunday.

*This should go without saying, but obviously this isn’t sponsored. I wish. OVERTONE, SEND ME THE PURPLE FOR BROWN, THANKS.

  1. Oh shoot, sorry you didn’t get your blue hair! I use the Extreme Purple overtone for my hair, but that’s after my hairdresser bleaches it and dyes it purple to begin with. The Overtone is great for maintaining color, but I’ve wondered how well it would work on darker, unbleached hair. Guess you better buy some bleach now! 😉

  2. Ciao Jen,
Il cowl, sarebbe lo scaldacollo è molto bello. Mi dispiace che i capelli non sono il colore che ti aspettavi. Vabbè ci puoi sempre riprovare. Alla prossima. Buona Pasqua! ❤️❤️❤️🐶

Sorry about your (not) blue hair 😣
I’m definitely ready to try cutting my own hair, it’s way outgrown it’s cut, but not long enough to be pulled back

    • I’m gonna try this one again, one more time…I have a friend who did Overtone, and she said that she left it in a lot longer than recommended on the package…fingers crossed!
