Good morning friends!  This morning I wanted to share some pictures from our latest travels to Seattle! We flew out there last Thursday to celebrate our one year wedding anniversary.  I’d never been to the Pacific Northwest before, but Husband had traveled to Seattle for work a couple of years ago and couldn’t stop talking about what an amazing city it was.  I knew it had to be our next destination!

We flew out early Thursday from Austin. Unlike the nightmare delays we’d experienced with our Indy trip, the flight was smooth and there were no delays. I worked on my cardi a bit and was even able to sleep a little.

At 9:00 Pacific time, we landed!  I was surprised that it was sunny outside, because I’d been expecting constant rain. I couldn’t get over how beautiful it is!  Trees are EVERYWHERE, and the city is nestled right next to the Puget Sound.

We wandered around for a bit, got lost, grabbed breakfast and lunch, and started exploring the city.  First stop – Pike Place Market!

I bought only one thing from the market.

The yarn is a richer blue than this, but with my great ~photo editing skills~ it looks a bit washed out.

Yes! A local yarn dyer was selling yarn at the market. It was kismet.  This is a skein from MJYarns.

Next, we drove out to Snoqualmie Falls and hiked down to see the waterfall!

Big Foot is definitely part of the culture up there.

On Friday, our anniversary, we celebrated by going to the SPACE NEEDLE.  It was so cool.  And there’s a rotating glass observatory deck!  If you’re afraid of heights, it’s probably not as fun, but fortunately I am not scared of heights.  We also got more of the Seattle experience on Saturday, i.e. rain.

Next we went over to the Museum of Pop Culture.  Got a photo next to the Mario wall, which was a staple of any good 90’s kid such as myself.

Our visit coincided with the 25th anniversary of Kurt Cobain’s death, so we made our way to the Nirvana exhibit.  It was packed full of people, as you’d expect, but it was a neat exhibit.  One of the highlights was seeing Dave Grohl’s drum kit.

After the Museum, we went to the Aquarium and called it a day.

The next morning, we had breakfast at a really cute coffehouse, Caffe’ Limoncello, and explored the art museum.

We explored the local record store and bookstore, where I was able to snag Studio MME’s Space Needle kit.  Then we headed out to Discovery Park for a hike, which was one of my favorite activities.  The park was so serene and beautiful.

On Sunday, we made a trip to the Zoo, where we saw grizzly bears and red pandas.  I fed some greedy, adorable parakeets and penguins.

And then we flew back to Austin, arriving late Sunday night. It was an amazing trip, and I can’t wait to return!
