Weekend Recap

Hello friends!

Thank you all for your well wishes for my last post 🙂 As you can imagine, we are inspired to start organizing our home and getting rid of items well before we move.  Good thing it’s a new year and Marie Kondo’s show is out on Netflix for inspiration!

It was a good, balanced weekend – definitely some rest time to work on projects, but also stayed productive. We bought containers for organizing and did some yard work yesterday.  We also took down our little tree. Our last Christmas as Texas residents (for now!)

I worked on my cowl project, with a little help from Apollo:

And guess what? IT’S ALL DONE! It’s blocking as we speak!

Not going to miss this carpet at all.

Do you spot the glaring mistake in it?  Haha.  I definitely need to learn a better technique for joining yarn.  I admittedly don’t have a technique, more, “WELL LET’S SEE IF THIS WORKS” and it clearly does not.  Also, I can’t find my blocking pins so we’ll see if these sewing pins are good enough to do the job!

I also finished a cute little project from Mollie Makes issue 74 (crafting from the stash!)

It’s a little dachshund! (Or, it’s supposed to be one, anyway).  The keychain is busted, so I think I’ll use this as a Christmas tree ornament for next year.

I am only buying craft magazines now if the kits are super cute, and unfortunately the latest issue of Mollie Makes qualifies:

BUT here’s what I’m doing with my craft magazine collection – since we have a scanner now, I’m scanning the projects I could see myself doing in the future, and then will bring the stack to Half Price Books to sell.  I’ve started doing that already and have definitely noticed an improvement!

I’d better get to work now, but I hope you all had a great weekend!

  1. I need to do something similar with my knitting magazines, a few knitting books and some yarn (except for scanning obviously). I’m a member of a fb group for exchange and sale of yarn and I’m planning to post photos of whatever I have to sell when I’m back to Ireland at the end of the month. Would be good to de-clutter my home a little and maybe earn a few euro 😉
Also, Apollo is the best, as usually. And the mini keychain dachshound is cute too!

    • Aw thank you so much! He’s cute, and he knows it 😀 The scanner is a pretty recent addition…my husband needed it for the class he was teaching, and I’m pretty happy that he bought it (otherwise I never would have). I definitely have some crafting books that could be reused as well! It’s great that you have a group where those items can go to good use 🙂
