Playing with Color

Hello friends! Hope you are having a good week.  This week was a little crazy since I had a deadline stacked on top of a client meeting that I needed to prep for.  The client meeting is done and while my work load is still a little heavy, I feel like I can breathe a little!

This past week, I’ve had a hard time focusing in all aspects of my life.  I think my creative projects reflect this – I haven’t really made any real progress, but there’s been a lot of half-finished gauge swatching.

Behold.

I’ve already swatched this project, but this is the start of the Seamstress Top.  This is the very bottom band of the top. The good news is I only have to count to 15. The bad news is the band is like 115 rows…

This is how my swatch is coming along for the Crochet Cabana Top.  I’m not really sure if I’m feeling this colorway. I probably should have purchased the yarn in the original cream color.  Sigh.

This is my half-finished swatch for the Night Lights Sweater.  I was really unsure about this “Unique Unicorn” business, but I’m loving the way this colorway is working out so far.  I’m not generally a pink fan – the pink has to be a certain shade, and this one is winning for me.

Speaking of pink:

I was going through old crochet magazines and scanning the patterns I wanted to keep, so I could sell the magazines back to Half Price Books. I found the Asymmetrical Shawl pattern by Kat Goldin and was intrigued.  I didn’t have the yarn the pattern recommended, but I picked this lively shade of – ERGH – I lost the yarn tag.  This was yarn my husband bought me for my birthday last year, and even in this post you can see that the yarn tag is missing.   WHERE DO YOU GO YARN TAG?

Anyway.  I think this is Mrs. Crosby Comes to Play Satchel yarn in the Hummingbird colorway.  I hadn’t realized my brain was craving a trickier but manageable pattern, but this pattern is checking all those boxes. I’m about to hit a really tricky part though, so we’ll see.  But I am LOVING the colorway.  This is such a fun pattern so far. I will sweat to death if I try wearing this shawl now, since we’ve been under heat advisories the past several days, but definitely something I can wear in Indiana.

I better get ready for work, I’m running a little late. Eek.  Talk to you all soon!
