Grumpiness

Last night it started raining, and I think the storms are bringing in a cold front.  Next week, the weather is supposed to be in the 50s!!!  I’m so excited.

This weekend has been spent, you guessed it, studying.  I worked on a practice exam yesterday.  I bombed it.  Bombed. it.  I am so discouraged and disappointed. I thought I had been doing better in both water and air.  I was close on some problems but either made dumb calculation errors or had a gap in my understanding.  And I do see a clear improvement on air and water problems that would have stumped me before.  So what happened?

I think the practice exam showed that there are still some gaps in my understanding that need to be addressed.  I will continue focusing on my weaknesses these next two weeks. I’m trying not to feel down over this, especially since I KNOW that I have improved since I last took the exam.  But it’s just a humbling reminder that even though I’ve been working really hard with my studies, it may not be enough.  I can still fail this for the third time.  And I certainly wouldn’t be the first to do so.

But I’m sad and the weather matches my mood.  And what do I do when I’m sad?

BUY YARN.

Wow, that picture is unnecessarily large but I’ll keep it.  You might like to know that I placed the bag of yarn on the floor, and my dog immediately tried running off with one.  I bought this yarn to make the Rhiannon Slouch Sweater. I probably won’t be able to start it until after the exam, and probably won’t finish until, I don’t know, May 2019.  But whatever. GOALS.

Last night on SNL’s Weekend Update, Michael Che made a joke about how women love yarn, and I was literally holding several balls of yarn in my hands when he made that joke. Husband was very amused.

I guess I should go study now.  I hope you all have a great Sunday!

  1. This was taken from the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.

“It is important to note that performance on a Practice Examination is not a predictor of whether a candidate will pass or fail the competency-based AANPCB National Certification Examination. Taking the practice exam is not required and does not give an advantage over candidates who do not choose to take them and is not the only or preferred route to adequate preparation for the certification examination.”

I never was big on pre-exams. I have seen many given and when you take the real one it was no where close on what you took. 🙂

  2. Don’t let the practice exam discourage you. I’m sending my best thoughts your way, you can do it!
Also, I’m broke right now, but as soon as I get my current project payment, I’m going on a yarn shopping spree!
